Ginger Lemonade

One of my favorite ways to spend the first few days of summer is to lie mindlessly by the pool. As I wait for teachers to post final grades, I like to sip on a glass of ginger lemonade. Ginger not only acts as a spice but it also boots your immune system and helps with motion sickness symptoms such as nausea, head ache, and dizziness.

Ginger Lemonade

Ingredients:

  • 5 lemons
  • 4 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of agave
  • 2 cm of fresh ginger
  • 2 cups of ice

Directions:

  1. Squeeze the 5 lemons into a small bowl (make sure to get all the seeds out).
  2. Add 4 tablespoons of sugar and about 1 tablespoon of agave. Add more or less based on how sweet you like your lemonade. This recipe is a middle ground.
  3. Skin the 2 cm of gingers and then cut that into small pieces. Then mix in with other ingredients.
  4. Strain the mixture into another bowl.
  5. The final step is to add water. The amount of water you add should be based upon how much juice you got out of the lemons. The ratio of should be about 1/3 lemon juice and 2/3 water.
  6. Add ice then you are ready to serve.
